Moving in Florida? In the summer? You’re brave, and probably sweating already just thinking about it.
Summer may be the most popular time to move, but it’s also the hottest, most chaotic season of the year. At Miracle Movers, we’ve weathered thousands of summer moves, and we know exactly what works (and what doesn’t).
Here’s how to move smart when the temps are soaring.
1. Book Your Movers Early
Summer is peak season. If you wait too long, you’ll either overpay or scramble to find availability. Lock in your spot with Miracle Movers as soon as you know your moving date.
2. Start Early in the Morning
Schedule your move for as early as possible. The difference between a 7 AM start and an 11 AM one? About 15 degrees… and two gallons of sweat.
3. Hydration is Mandatory
Keep bottled water easily accessible for you and anyone helping. Electrolyte drinks are even better. Dehydration sneaks up fast in the heat.
4. Wear the Right Clothes
Go for light-colored, breathable fabrics. Avoid dark clothing and anything too tight. Closed-toe shoes with grip are a must, no flip-flops.
5. Protect Heat-Sensitive Items
Don’t leave candles, electronics, or anything that can melt (or explode) in a hot truck. Pack these separately in climate-controlled vehicles or bring them with you.
6. Keep Pets and Kids Cool
Make sure pets and little ones stay inside with AC during the loading and unloading process. Moving day is not the time to let them hang around in the sun.
7. Don’t Skip the Sunscreen
Even if you’re in and out of the house, UV rays will catch you. Reapply sunscreen throughout the day and consider a wide-brimmed hat or sunglasses.
8. Let the Pros Handle It
The best way to beat the heat? Let Miracle Movers take care of the heavy lifting while you stay cool and focused on settling in.
Moving in summer doesn’t have to be a meltdown.
