Moving a hot tub starts with an empty shell and a disconnected power line, not with a crew and a full spa. Even drained, a tub is bulky, awkward, and heavier than the cover suggests. Full of water, it is not furniture and it is not going on the truck. Yards in Brevard County often add a second problem: a side gate, a pool deck, or a screen enclosure narrower than the tub. The path matters as much as the weight.
Drain it, and deal with the power first
Drain the tub completely before moving day, and wipe standing water out of the footwell. A mostly empty tub can still hide water in the plumbing. Leave the cover on only if it is strapped and dry. A soaked cover is dead weight, and it smells worse after a ride in the heat.
Power should be disconnected by a qualified electrician. The crew will not pull wires or cap a breaker. If the disconnect is not done, the tub stays put. Say so early if you are still waiting on that appointment so the date can move with it. At the new house, reconnection is the same kind of work. The shell can be set where you want it when the path is safe. That is not a spa install, and it is not a new pad.
Weight and access when moving a hot tub
Share the make if you know it, and measure the tub, the cover, and the steps as separate pieces. Then walk the path. Gate width, a raised porch, a tight turn at a screen door, and soft ground after rain all change the carry. If the only route crosses a neighbor’s yard, get permission before moving day. Do not invent a shortcut through someone else’s fence.
Take steps, a handheld remote, and loose cabinet panels off the shell, or strap them so they cannot fall. Filter cartridges and chemical bottles do not ride inside the cabinet. Spa chemicals belong in the restricted-items conversation. Check what movers will not move and pull those jugs out. The measuring habit in will your furniture fit applies here, with one extra note. You are measuring an outdoor path, not only interior doors. A gate latch often steals an inch you counted on.
The rest of the patio is a separate pile
Chairs, a side table, and an umbrella can move the same day, but they need the prep in moving patio and outdoor furniture: dry cushions, wiped frames, and protected glass tops. Do not stack wet chairs on the hot tub cover and call it packed. If the tub is staying with the house, say so. Many Florida sales leave the spa. A note on the cover, plus a clear word when you book, keeps a sold tub from being taken or a wanted tub from being left.
- A level spot you have already chosen. Drainage is not a guess on moving day.
- A gate or opening that matches the measurements you gave.
- The electrician’s work done, or honestly not done yet.
- Room to set the shell down without blocking the only door.
Screen enclosures and pool decks can be slick. Point out a loose board or a soft section of decking. Filling and treating the water happens after the crew leaves, on your timeline, not on the truck.
Miracle Movers of Florida moves local and long-distance households from Cape Canaveral. A hot tub can be part of that job when it is empty, disconnected, and on the list. If an electrician is still pending, the rest of the house can often move first.
Call (407) 819-0886 before moving day so the crew knows the tub will be drained and disconnected.
