Moving Household Appliances in Brevard County

Moving household appliances is easy to underestimate because the washer, dryer, and refrigerator already look like part of the room. They are heavy, they hold water, and they often sit in an alcove tighter than the hallway. On a local Brevard County move, or a longer trip off the Space Coast, prep is what keeps a fridge from leaking in the truck. Packing dishes is a different job. The machines need their own plan.

Empty and dry them ahead of time

Empty the refrigerator at least a day before the move and let it defrost. Wipe the cavity dry, pull loose shelves and drawers if they rattle, and pack those pieces in a labeled box. Leave a towel on the bottom shelf for anything you missed. Do not send a fridge that is still full of food and hope the door seal holds.

Drain the washer. Do not just turn it off. Run a drain cycle if it has one, and empty the hose into a bucket or floor drain. Clear the dryer lint trap and coil the cord so it does not drag under the dolly.

Disconnects are not a guessing game

Shut off washer supply lines only if you are comfortable with the fitting, and keep a towel ready. If a dryer or range uses gas, a qualified person should shut it off and disconnect it. The crew moves the appliance. They do not open a gas line or rewire a circuit. Unplug electric machines. If a cord is removable, bag it and keep it with that machine.

Front-load washers often shipped with transit bolts that lock the drum. Many were thrown away on install day. If you still have them, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If you do not, say so, so the drum can be padded instead of discovered on the walk.

How to plan moving household appliances

Measure the alcove, the door swing, and the path to the truck. A refrigerator can clear the kitchen and still fail at the garage turn. Handles and hinges add width. The same checks used to see whether furniture will fit apply here. Keep refrigerators upright when the path allows it. If a stairwell forces a short time on the side, stand the machine up at the destination and wait before plugging it in, following the manufacturer’s guidance.

Strap doors so they cannot swing on a ramp. Take magnets, clips, and paper off the front. Small appliances, knives, and pantry food belong in boxes, not inside the oven or dishwasher. Kitchen packing is separate from the big machines. Use the notes on packing a kitchen the right way, and still name the fridge and laundry pair.

Labor-only help and what stays behind

If you are loading your own truck and only need the heavy pieces moved, labor-only help is sometimes the fit. Read what labor-only moving means before you assume it includes gas work or hooking machines up in the next house. Placement is possible when the path is clear. Hookups are for you or a licensed tradesperson.

  • Fridge emptied, defrosted, and wiped dry.
  • Washer drained, hoses secured, and water off.
  • Dryer unplugged, vent pulled back, gas handled if there is a gas line.
  • Someone on site who knows which appliances go and which stay.

In a sale, the contract sometimes says the refrigerator stays. Mark anything that stays. If a machine is going into storage, say so. A fridge in a hot Florida unit still needs to be dry and upright.

Miracle Movers of Florida moves households locally and long distance from Cape Canaveral. The laundry pair and kitchen machines can go on the same job as the furniture.
